Oregon, that is.
This past week was the National Specialty Show for the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (www.bmdca.org).
Spending a week in the company of hundreds of Bernese Mountain Dogs is truly amazing. There just isn’t anything that can describe it. If you have not lost your heart to a Berner, you’ve missed something really special.
We laughed, we cried, we shared memories and hopes and shopped till we dropped. The Berner Health Fund Auction raised another record in contributions to the health of the breed, and there were few harsh words the entire week (there were a few, but we’re only human, we cannot pretend to be as consistently positive as our dogs, although we do try to emulate their finer qualities.)
We saw old friends, made new ones, learned a LOT, and got a look at the present and the future of the breed.
It was a whirlwind of a week and I think everyone involved is exhausted. It’s good to be home, and it will be even better when I can collect my dogs in the morning and bring them home.
And we’re already looking forward to next year.
